Sarnia Artwalk 2011

In moving downtown one of our goals of theStory was to become rooted into the lives, events and culture of this place. We didn’t want to just be a place that people arrived at from theĀ suburbsĀ for once a week and then went home never to think about it again. We wanted to pick a place and then be present in it, be part of it and then work towards it’s restoration. This has happened in different ways for our community but for me personally it’s been one major way and that is running downtown’s annual arts festival: Sarnia Artwalk.

This year I took on the role of coordinating the festival. This has integrated me quite deeply into the fabric of what happens down here every day and I love it. The festival is this weekend and we’re expecting well over 20,000 folks to flood the streets, over a hundred and fifty vendors, two stages with local and Canadian musicians, craft beers on tap, kids water festival, native plant sale, environmental section and the list goes on. It will be a great weekend so if you are close, you should come.
